Why does a tooth hurt?
Common causes include tooth decay, a cracked tooth, gum problems or an infection. Only an examination, often with an X-ray, can show the cause.
What can I do tonight?
Rinse gently with lukewarm water and keep the area clean. Avoid very hot, cold or sweet food on that side.
For pain medicine ("dant dard ki tablet"), ask a doctor or pharmacist what is safe for you, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or take other medicines. Do not place tablets directly on the gum.
